The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the 15-member Pakistani women’s team for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 to be played in the UAE from October 3 to October 20. The PCB has also taken a big decision with the announcement of the team in which Nida Dar has been removed from the captaincy and it has been handed over to Fatima Sana. The biggest reason for this decision of the PCB was the disappointing performance of the women’s team for a long time. In the recently concluded Women’s T20 Asia Cup, the journey of the Pakistan team ended with the semi-finals.
Till now Fatima Sana has played 41 ODIs and 40 T20 matches
22-year-old Fatima Sana has so far played 41 ODIs and 40 T20 matches in international cricket for the Pakistani women’s team. Fatima Sana has captained the Pakistan Emerging Team as well as performed this responsibility in domestic cricket. In the year 2023, when the Pakistani women’s team won in the Super Over in the match played at Hagley Oval on the tour of New Zealand, Fatima also captained the team in that. Before Fatima, Nida Dar was handling the captaincy of the team in all formats, who was made the captain in place of Bismah Maroof. The Pakistani women’s team has been included in Group A in the upcoming T20 World Cup along with India, Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka, in which everyone is waiting for the announcement of the revised schedule after the change of venue by the ICC.
