India vs Australia BGT: The much-awaited series between India and Australia is now getting closer. Team India has been announced by BCCI for this series. The series is going to be very important for India. This series will decide whether Team India will once again play the final of the ICC World Test Championship or will miss it this time. However, the problems of Team India are not decreasing. Whatever happens when the series starts, it will definitely happen, but before that the Indian team has two big tensions which will have to be overcome.
Rohit Sharma will be absent in the first few matches of the Border Gavaskar series, Rohit has already informed BCCI about this. As of now, only the first match is being discussed, but it is possible that he may miss the second match also. Now the biggest tension is that if Rohit is not there then who will captain Team India. Jasprit Bumrah has been given the responsibility of vice-captain in the team selected by BCCI for the Australia series. In such a situation, there is a possibility that Jasprit Bumrah may be given the responsibility of captaincy in the absence of Rohit Sharma. But Bumrah’s captaincy is not very fruitful. So far, he has captained India in only one Test, in which he had to face defeat.
Who will handle the role of opening batsman in Rohit’s absence?
Due to the absence of Rohit Sharma, the question has also arisen as to who will play the role of opening batsman. Yashasvi Jaiswal is an opener, but it is not yet known who will be placed as his partner. Although KL Rahul and Abhimanyu Easwaran are contenders for this, but at the moment both of them are not scoring runs with their bat. India’s A team is currently on Australia tour, where unofficial matches are being held. Both Abhimanyu and KL Rahul are coming in as opening batsmen, but their bats are not ready to score runs. In such a situation, this is also a cause of problem.
India will have to win the five-Test series at any cost. The Indian team has already moved from first to second position in the World Test Championship points table after losing three consecutive matches to New Zealand. Now if there is defeat in more matches then the crisis will increase further. Talking about the equations so far, India will have to win at least four matches in the five-match series, only then the final berth will be confirmed. If three matches are won and two are lost then we will have to depend on the performance of other teams. At the same time, if only two matches are won and three are lost, then the dream of playing the final will remain unfulfilled. Although anything can happen, it will be better if the Indian team goes to the final on its own.
