The South African team has to tour Bangladesh at the end of October, where it will play a 2-match Test series against the host team from October 21. This Test series, part of the third edition of the World Test Championship, is very important for both the teams. Before the start of this series, a bad news is coming for the South African team, in which their Test and ODI captain Temba Bavuma is finding it difficult to play this series. Actually, Temba was injured in the second match of the three-match ODI series being played against Ireland in UAE.
Temba did not even come on the field for fielding after getting injured
When Temba Bavuma was on a personal score of 35 while batting in the second ODI against Ireland, he had to leave the field due to elbow pain. After this he did not even come out while fielding. According to the report of ESPN Cricinfo, Temba will seek expert advice regarding his injury after returning to South Africa. Reeza van der Dussen will take over the responsibility of captaining the African team in place of Temba Bavuma, who will not play in the third ODI against Ireland as T20 captain Aiden McCram has been rested for this series. Temba has again complained of pain in the same elbow which he suffered during the tour of India in the year 2022 when he came to India to participate in the T20 series with the South African team.
South Africa still has hope to reach the final of the World Test Championship
In the third edition of the World Test Championship, the South African team still has to play 6 matches, out of which apart from Bangladesh, it also has to play a 2-match Test series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. At the same time, to keep alive their hopes of reaching the finals, the African team will need to win 5 out of these 6 matches.
