Punjab Kings bought Shashank Singh for 20 lakhs

Punjab Kings issued a clarification that they have signed the right cricketer during the IPL auction in Dubai despite reports that they bid for the ‘wrong’ player due to name confusion. Punjab Kings bought Shashank Singh in the last moments of the auction. When all the franchises were trying to buy uncapped Indian players at their base price of Rs 20 lakh. When auctioneer Mallika Sagar announced the name of Shashank Singh, Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta immediately placed the bid and this cricketer was sold. According to reports, the franchise later ‘realised’ that they had made a mistake and contacted the auctioneer to withdraw the bid.

Punjab Kings said this

Punjab Kings have said in their clarification that the media has written about Shashank Singh that Punjab Kings bought him by mistake. Punjab Kings would like to clarify that this player was always included in the list of players on whom we had to bid. The confusion was because there were two players with the same name on the list. We are pleased to have him on board and see him contributing to our success. A Punjab Kings official told PTI that we have selected the right player. We were keeping an eye on him for some time. There is confusion in the news with the 19 year old cricketer of the same name.

performed like this in domestic cricket

Shashank Singh has played in IPL before also. He has played cricket for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL. He remained unsold in the IPL 2023 auction. He has scored 69 runs in 10 IPL matches. But he has performed well in domestic cricket. Shashank has scored 985 runs in 30 List A matches.
