Australian batsman: The Australian team is playing a three-Test series with Pakistan. Australia has won both the opening matches of the series. The third test match will be played in Sydney from 3 January. Australia’s star batsman David Warner has already announced his retirement from the Test format. Now he has also announced his retirement from ODI format. He has surprised everyone by taking this big decision at the beginning of the year itself.
David Warner retired
David Warner became emotional in the press conference held in Sydney and said that I am definitely retiring from ODI cricket also. This was something that I said during the World Cup. Winning the ODI World Cup in India is a big achievement. So I have decided today to retire from that format, which allows me to play in other leagues around the world and help the ODI team grow a bit. But Warner has kept the door open to playing in the Champions Trophy. He said that I know that the Champions Trophy is coming. If I am playing good cricket in two years’ time and they need someone, I will be available.
David Warner has decided to retire from Test and ODI formats to focus on T20 cricket. He has every hope of playing in the T20 World Cup to be held in West Indies and America in June. After the end of the Test series against Pakistan, he will play at least four matches for Sydney Thunder. After this he can play for Dubai Capitals in ILT20. He is seeking NOC from Cricket Australia to play in the ILT20 league, in which the Dubai team’s first match will be played on January 21.
Sixth highest run scorer
David Warner won the ODI World Cup 2015 and 2023 titles with the Australian team. He has played cricket in all three formats for Australia and has won many matches for the team on his own. Warner has performed brilliantly in ODI cricket. He has scored 6932 runs for Australia in ODIs at an average of 45.30, which includes 22 centuries. He is the sixth highest run scorer for Australia in ODI cricket. In ODI, he is second only to Ricky Ponting in terms of scoring centuries for Australia. He has also played 111 Test and 99 T20 matches for Australia.
