In cricket, the ball often hits the batsman’s head, but Australia’s Will Pucovski was so unlucky that he got hit on the head not once or twice but 13 times in total. This is the reason why he has now been forced to retire. At one time, Will Pucovski was considered the future star of Australian cricket, but due to getting hit on the head several times on the field, his professional career is now coming to an end. Pucovski had to take this big decision after the recommendation of a panel of medical specialists. Pucovski was getting frequent head injuries, but the last injury he suffered in March proved fatal for him. After this, the doctors advised him to stay away from the game.

This year he suffered a head injury for the 13th time

In March 2024, he was hit on the helmet by a ball from Riley Meredith during a Sheffield Shield match, after which he had to retire hurt. Due to this injury, he not only had to miss the rest of the Australian summer season but also lost his contract with Leicestershire. Pukowski admitted that the constant head injuries affected his mental health.

According to 9 News Melbourne, the young player has decided to end his short career following the recommendation of a panel of medical experts. Morris, representing Nine News, said that a panel of experts had recommended Pukowski to retire three months ago and now Cricket Victoria and his team have yet to formalize the termination of the contract. He further said that this news is not a surprise for Pukowski’s teammates, who have not seen him do the entire pre-season training.

The only test match played against India

Pukowski played 36 first class matches in his short career and scored 2350 runs at an average of 45.19. During this, 7 centuries came off his bat. He got a chance to play only one Test match for Australia. He played this match against India in Sydney in 2020/21, in which he scored 62 runs in the first innings and 10 runs in the second innings.
