WI vs SA T20I: A three-match T20 series is to be played between West Indies and South Africa. The West Indies team has announced its squad for this series. Two legendary T20 players are not present in this squad. These players are none other than Andre Russell and Jason Holder. Both these players had asked for rest from Cricket West Indies and the board has decided to give them rest against South Africa. Let us tell you that this series will be played from 23 to 27 August. All the matches of the series will be played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy Stadium in Trinidad.

Why did both the players get rest

While announcing the squad for the T20 series against South Africa, the West Indies cricket director said that Andre Russell has asked for time to rest and recover, as has Jason Holder, who has played five consecutive Test matches against England and South Africa. During this time, they will work closely with Cricket West Indies’ science and medical team.

Big statement from the team’s head coach

West Indies head coach Darren Sammy said that facing a strong South African team is a great opportunity for our team to rebuild and refocus our game plan. We have played them recently and have had quite mixed results, so it should be an exciting and must-win series. I am confident in the team we have selected, and with an eye on the next T20 World Cup in 2026, I know the players will be very eager to achieve success.
