New Delhi: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah said in a press conference on Tuesday that the Indian team would not travel to Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup. After which many former Pakistan cricketers had expressed their displeasure over this comment of BCCI. After this remark of Jay Shah, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also threatened Pakistan not to come to India in the 2023 ODI World Cup to be held in India next year. Now former Pakistan’s lethal bowler Wasim Akram has also given his reaction on Jay Shah’s statement.

Wasim Akram said during a conversation on A Sports, ‘The cricket board has given a tremendous statement. India cannot decide how Pakistan plays cricket. Pakistan started hosting teams after 10-15 years. I am a former cricketer. I don’t know what is happening on the political front, but it was necessary to talk about it.

He further said, ‘If Jay Shah had anything to say, he should first speak to the PCB chairman over the phone or call a meeting of the Asian Cricket Council to discuss the issue. You can’t just say that we will not travel to Pakistan when the entire council has nominated Pakistan for the Asia Cup.
