Surprisingly, when Anurag came on the field to play his first first class match for Himachal. During that time he was also the President of Himachal Cricket. He has been the only player to do so, who has also played a match for his team while being the chairman of the state cricket board.

Have played important responsibility in BCCI

Apart from the post of president in Himachal Cricket, he has also held the post of head of the Indian Cricket Board. Anurag Thakur became the President of BCCI in the year 2015 and stepped down in 2017 after the Lodha Committee report.
