Babar Azam is like my son, claims former Pakistani captain, lashes out at journalist, accuses him of creating rift

New Delhi. Controversy keeps happening in the Pakistan cricket team for one reason or the other. Former team captain Wasim Akram had criticized captain Babar Azam a lot in the past. He had openly talked about his selfish nature in the Pakistan Super League and now the franchise team has also given Babar to another team through trade. The relationship between the former captain and Babar is not being said to be good.

Wasim Akram while talking to Cricket Pakistan said, “I was never angry with Babar. There are some journalists who keep making such stories while sitting at home. All his work is done through Twitter only. They don’t eat food, don’t drink tea, they just keep on Twitter for 24 hours. I haven’t met him even once.”

In the Pakistan Super League, Babar has decided to leave Karachi Kings and play for Peshawar Zalmi in the new season. It is being told that this trade took place because of the relationship between mentor Wasim and Babar. Wasim said on this, “Trade is very common in cricket league. This is not my team, it is the owner’s team. I keep talking to Babar continuously, he is like my son. Why did I get angry with him? I fully support him.

Wasim backed Pakistan cricket team to retain Babar as captain even after the series of defeats at home last year. Pakistan had a clean sweep in the Test series at the hands of the England team. He said, “We must support our captain, I have played under the captaincy of 7 different captains. If our captain is less experienced, then it is not going to be good to remove him now, but he should be supported. We don’t need an enemy, our own people are enough. I see that Babur is being criticized from all sides. People should not make fun of him.”
