Perth: Perth Scorchers defeated Brisbane Heat by 5 wickets in the final match of Big Bash League 2022-23. With this, Perth’s team has achieved the distinction of becoming champions for the fifth time in the league. In this match, Brisbane, batting first, scored 175 runs at the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. In response, the Perth team won the match by scoring 178 runs in 19.2 overs. Captain Ashton Turner played an explosive half-century innings of 53 runs in Perth’s victory. He faced 32 balls in which he hit 5 fours and two sixes.

Apart from this, Josh English scored 26 and Cooper Colney played an important inning of 25 runs in the last. However, when Perth got off to chase the target, its start was not very special. The team had lost its first score of just 32 runs. Opener batsman Stephen Skenaji was dismissed for just 21 runs while Cameron Bancroft could contribute only 15 runs. However, captain Ashton Turner handled the innings from one end to bring the team to the threshold of victory.

Bisbane’s batsmen disappointed

Batting first in the final match, Brisbane Heat’s opener batsman could not give the team a start as expected. Brisbane lost their first wicket for just 25 runs. Sam Heazlett definitely handled the innings and got out after scoring 34 runs. Apart from this, Nathan McSweeney, who came to bat at number three, played an inning of 41 runs in 37 balls. Max Bryant also played a crucial innings of 31 runs in the middle order while Sam Hein contributed 21 runs in 16 balls.

Perth bowlers showed amazing

Jason Behrendorff and Matthew Kelly took two wickets each for Perth who came to the field for bowling first. Apart from this, David Payne, Aaron Hardy and Andrew Tye also had one success each.
