Punjab Kings have suffered a major setback due to Johnny Bairstow not playing in IPL 2023. Bairstow was injured while playing golf last year, due to which he broke his leg. Although he is preparing to recover from the injury, but in the meantime, when it came to playing in the IPL, the England Cricket Board did not give him NOC, due to which he was ruled out of the league.
ECB has taken this decision keeping in mind its upcoming international schedule. ODI World Cup is to be played in India this year. In such a situation, the ECB does not want to take any kind of risk.
IPL Punjab’s first match with KKR
At the same time, in the Indian Premier League, the Punjab Kings team will take on KKR for their first match. Punjab will play its first match at home ground PCA Stadium Mohali. This match between the two teams will be played on 1 April.
