Coach Simmons upset on West Indies’ humiliating defeat
Said- need to take a look at myself
New Delhi. West Indies team has been out of the T20 World Cup 2022 race after losing by nine wickets against Ireland. Head coach Phil Simmons is very angry with the disappointing performance of his batsmen against a weak team like Ireland. After the match, he said, ‘I think we did not play well today. We started well with the bat, but we couldn’t take it to the end. I think when you add this, we have failed in all departments today. Ireland bowled well. We batted well in the beginning but couldn’t progress and they batted well and pushed us out of the tournament.
He said, ‘Things are like this. I think we are not playing enough cricket to be there as we play. We have batting capabilities. We are not able to show it together. Our bowlers are doing better, but the batsmen are really disappointing.

Simmons said, ‘We need to go back and the batsmen need to look at themselves and work out how do we score 170, 180 runs in the match. We did not assess the situation properly, which is necessary.
Simmons indicated that he had no answer to West Indies’ troubles, the two-time champions having done poorly in the last two seasons of the tournament.
