New Delhi. The names of both the teams of the Caribbean Premier League final have been decided. In Qualifier 2 played on Wednesday, Jamaica Tallawahs secured a ticket to the final by registering a win against Guyana Warriors on the back of a scintillating century from Shemar Brooks. Batting first, Jamaica’s team scored 226 runs for 4 wickets. In response, Guyana’s team could only score 189 runs for 8 wickets. Now Jamaica will face Barbados Royals on 1 October to win the title.

Jamaica, who entered the qualifiers by winning the eliminator, confirmed the ticket to the final on the basis of Brooks’s firefight. Batting first in the very important match of the tournament on Wednesday, Jamaica’s team scored above 200 runs even after a poor start. Kenar Lewis was dismissed for zero in the very first over. After this Brandon King lost his wicket for 6 runs. Coming to bat at number three, Brooks single-handedly changed the course of the match and set a huge target of 227 runs in front of Guyana.

Brooks’ stormy innings

After the team got two initial setbacks, Brooks not only handled the innings but also scored runs at a fast pace. He scored 109 runs in 52 balls, scoring runs at a strike rate of 209 at one end. In this innings, 7 fours and 8 sixes were seen with the bat of Brooks. He took two half-centuries while a century partnership with Imad Wasim took the team beyond 200.

Not named in West Indies’ World Cup squad

A few days ago, the West Indies team to play in the ICC T20 World Cup to be played in Australia was selected. The selectors have not given Brooks a place in this team. After not being able to make it to the team, Brooks has responded in his own way by scoring a century in an important match like Qualifier 2.
