Cummins kicked crores of IPL for his country, when will Indian players take a lesson?

Melbourne: Australia’s Test and ODI captain Pat Cummins on Tuesday decided not to play in the next season of the Indian Premier League due to a busy international schedule. Cummins, who made his IPL debut in 2015, has played 42 matches in the world’s biggest T20 league. Cummins took seven wickets in five matches at an economy rate of 10.69 last season. He was bought by the team for Rs 7.25 crore.

Cummins tweeted, ‘I have taken the difficult decision of not playing IPL next year. The international cricket schedule is very busy with a lot of Tests and ODIs to be played over the next 12 months. I will rest before the World Cup and the Ashes series. Thanks to KKR for understanding the situation. Such a great team and hope to be back soon.

Cummins could not perform as expected in the recently concluded World Cup and took only three wickets in four matches at an economy rate of close to nine. Australia is scheduled to play the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (February and March) in India in 2023 while the Ashes series will be played from June 16 to July 30. The ODI World Cup in India will be held in October-November next year. England batsman Sam Billings has also decided not to play IPL 2023 to focus on Test cricket.

Shardul Thakur’s entry in IPL

The team management traded Shardul Thakur before the mega auction and joined them. Shardul was earlier part of Delhi Capitals. Before that, he used to show strength for Chennai Super Kings. Along with fast bowling, Shardul is a perfect T20 player. In the recently concluded World Cup in Australia, he was included in the team as a reserve player.
