The teams of Brazil and Portugal had already qualified for the knockout matches. But the results of the rest of the teams were yet to come. Both the teams had to face defeat in the last match of the group stage. Cameroon defeated Brazil while Switzerland beat Portugal to make it to the round of 16. Apart from Brazil and Portugal, 14 teams are as follows – France, Netherlands, Senegal, USA, England, Poland, Argentina, Mexico, Croatia, Morocco, Spain, Japan, South Korea and Switzerland.
