Gautam Gambhir India XI: Gautam Gambhir’s playing XI, know who was chosen between Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant

New Delhi: Before India’s first match in the T20 World Cup against Pakistan, Gautam Gambhir announced his selected playing XI. He has also given his statement about the keeping of Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant in the team. He says that he will choose Rishabh Pant instead of Dinesh Karthik in the team’s playing XI. Karthik was seeded over Pant during the Asia Cup as well as the home series against Australia and South Africa last month.

Talking about the Indian team’s preparation and its game, Gambhir said that he would choose Pant over the experienced wicketkeeper-batsman. He said that Dinesh Karthik has never been seen playing a big innings. He said, “In my playing XI, Rishabh Pant should be at No. 5, Hardik Pandya at No. 6 and Axar Patel at No. 7. We have seen in the practice matches that Dinesh Karthik will play.

He further said in an interview- Although I am not in favor of choosing someone to play 10 balls. You should pick a player so that he can bat at No. 5 or 6, but Dinesh Karthik has shown no such intention. However, Gambhir said that the team management will support Karthik, who can prove to be dangerous for the team.

He said, ‘According to his and team management’s planning, Karthik has to bat only in the last 2-3 overs. It can be dangerous because in Australia if you lose wickets early you may have to send Axar Patel early. You don’t want Hardik’s wicket to be lost early. That’s why I picked Pant in my playing XI. It is noteworthy that India will take on Pakistan in their first match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday.
