ICC T20I Rankings: India-Pakistan ‘stars’ shine, Surya-Babar gain

New Delhi. In the latest update of the ICC Men’s T20 Rankings, the star players of India and Pakistan have got a big advantage. Veteran batsman Mohammad Rizwan has retained his top spot in the batting charts after his stellar performance in the ongoing seven-match series against England. Rizwan has scored 88*, 8 and 88 in the second, third and fourth T20 Internationals against England, which has helped him maintain his position. His performance helped Pakistan win the second and fourth T20 International matches. At present the series is running at 2-2.

India’s Suryakumar Yadav has also secured the No. 2 spot in the third T20 International against Australia in Hyderabad, scoring 69 off 36 balls. His scintillating batting helped India chase down the target of 187 and win the series 2-1. Pakistan captain Babar Azam scored the second T20 century of his career in the second T20I against England, which has propelled him to No.3 in the batting charts.

Australia captain Aaron Finch has also moved up a place to fifth position after scoring 31 runs in the second T20 International against India in Nagpur. England’s youth sensation Harry Brooke is one of the top gainers in the batting charts. He has climbed 118 places to reach the 29th position in the rankings. Brooke impressed everyone with his aggressive batting scoring 31, 81* and 34 in the last three T20 Internationals against Pakistan in Karachi.

India captain Rohit Sharma has moved up one place to 13th after scores of unbeaten 46 and 17, while Matthew Wade (up 6 places to 62nd), Cameron Greene (up 31 places to 67th) and Tim David (up 202 places to 109th). Green and David scored half-centuries in the final match of the series.

Fast bowler Harris Rauf has made quite a mark in the bowling charts after his stellar performance in the T20 International series against England. Rauf has recorded figures of 2/30, 0/39 and 3/32 in the last three matches, which helped him jump seven places to reach No. 14.

Axar Patel emerged as the leading wicket-taker in the series against Australia. His performances of 2/13 and 3/33 in the last two matches raised his ranking from 15 places to 18th. Yuzvendra Chahal (from 28th to 26th) has moved up in the bowlers’ list, led by Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood. Spinner Adam Zampa (down at No. 6) and pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar (at No. 10) have both lost a place each after their poor performances in the series between India and Australia.

In the list of all-rounders, Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi has become the new number one, leaving Shakib Al Hasan behind. Hardik Pandya has also reached the top four after his impressive performance in the series against Australia. Pandya scored 9 and 25* in the last two T20 Internationals against Australia, while also bowling a few overs. He is now in fourth place along with Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga.
