Ind vs Aus: Why did Irfan Pathan advise Virat Kohli to avoid spin bowlers before the Test series?

New Delhi: A few days are left for the beginning of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Both the teams are ready to face each other. The test series will start in Nagpur from 9 February. Team India’s veteran batsman Virat Kohli will be closely watched by fans in the series. Virat has returned to form from limited overs cricket. He would now like to repeat his brilliant performance in Test cricket as well. However, he has been seen struggling against the spin bowlers of Australia. Former all-rounder Irfan Pathan has given him a special advice to improve against spin.

Talking to Star Sports, Irfan said, ‘One thing that he (Virat) will keep in mind is that he would like to counter Aston Agar and Nathan Lyon. Because he especially struggles against spin. Recently his strike rate against spin has also come down.

Pathan further said, ‘I know we are talking about Test cricket. But sometimes he plays aggressively against spin, which is needed. Because it makes you better in that competition. Especially when you are facing a bowler like Nathan. He controls his spin. His ball has bounce and he keeps the ball a little away from the right-handed batsman.

Please tell that Virat Kohli has scored 1682 runs in 20 Tests against Australia at an average of 48.05. In which 7 centuries are also included. However, talking about the recent Test match, Virat played all the Test matches against Bangladesh. But he flopped in all the innings of the Test match. If runs do not come out of Virat’s bat, then the Indian team can be in trouble.
