IND vs BAN, 3rd ODI: Rohit Sharma out, will Rahul Tripathi get a chance?

New Delhi. After sitting on the bench for 10 consecutive matches, Rahul Tripathi is hoping for a lucky break. Despite proving his mettle in IPL and domestic cricket, Rahul Tripathi has only been doing the work of fetching water in the three ODI series. Now after Rohit Sharma’s injury, he may get a chance in the third and final ODI, but for this he will have to face a tough fight with Ishaan Kishan. Tripathi is primarily a right-handed middle-order batsman, but has been used as an opener due to his six-hitting ability. He can also bowl right arm medium pace. In such a situation, considering his all-rounder ability, he can be given a chance in the third ODI.

In the second ODI match played between India and Bangladesh, Rohit Sharma suffered a thumb injury while fielding. His thumb started bleeding, after which he was taken to the hospital for a scan. Rohit will be ruled out of the third ODI and Test series due to a dislocated left thumb bone. In such a situation, Rahul Dravid can give this 31 year old player a formal chance against Bangladesh.

How will Team India remember 2022, India suffered not one or two but 8 embarrassing defeats

Rahul Tripathi has been a part of these series:

India vs Ireland T20 (2 matches)
India vs Zimbabwe ODIs (3 matches)
India vs South Africa ODIs (3 matches)
India vs Bangladesh (3 matches)

After returning empty-handed from the tour of Ireland and Zimbabwe, Rahul Tripathi was hoping to make it into the playing XI during the first two matches in Bangladesh. Although, Tripathi has been sitting on the bench till now, but Rohit Sharma’s injury can become a lucky break for him. India now has only 13 players available, out of which 11 are to be selected for the third ODI.

Broken jaw, broken nose, vomiting of blood, fractures, diarrhoea… cricketers set an example of patriotism on the field

Rahul Tripathi has been one of the consistently uncapped players in every season of the IPL. Despite scoring runs continuously, he has not yet been able to make a place in India’s playing XI. With India’s injury crisis deepening, Rahul Tripathi will now be expected to get a chance in the playing XI. Shreyas Iyer has already proved his mettle. In such a situation, coach Dravid can give break to Rahul Tripathi. Let us tell you that many former cricketers and experts have criticized the management for selecting players in the team and not giving them a chance in the playing XI.

Recently, former selector Saba Karim has questioned the Indian team management and said on India News, “Why have you taken Rajat Patidar and Rahul Tripathi to Bangladesh? What has Tripathi done in ODIs? He is a T20 specialist, but you have picked him in the ODI team. I don’t think he will play. The new selection committee and management will first have to decide the core team.

Available 14 players against Bangladesh: KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Shahbaz Ahmed, Akshar Patel, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Mohammad Siraj, Umran Malik, Kuldeep Yadav.

BCCI has not named any substitute for Rishabh Pant and Rohit Sharma. In such a situation, Ishaan Kishan can be included in the playing eleven. As far as Deepak Chahar is concerned, there is no replacement in the pace department. In such a situation, India will be forced to field two left arm spinners. Kuldeep Yadav has been called for the third ODI. In such a situation, once again Rahul Tripathi and Rajat Patidar can sit on the bench, but if there is nothing left to lose in the series, then Rahul Tripathi can be tried.
