Ind vs Sa 1st T20: Big changes in Team India before T20 against South Africa, 3 players including Shreyas Iyer entered

New Delhi: Fast bowler Umesh Yadav, middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer and all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed were on Wednesday named in the Indian squad for the three-match T20I series against South Africa. Fast bowler Arshdeep Singh, who was out of the team in the recent series against Australia, has joined the team ahead of the opening T20 in Thiruvananthapuram.

All-rounder Deepak Hooda has been ruled out of the series due to a back injury while Hardik Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be at the NCA (National Cricket Academy) to deal with chronic injury-related problems.

In a release issued by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Secretary Jay Shah said, ‘Mohammed Shami has failed to fully recover from Kovid-19. He will not be able to take part in the three-match T20 series. The All India Selection Committee has included Umesh in place of Shami and Shreyas Iyer in place of Hooda. Apart from this, Shahbaz Ahmed has also been added to the T20 team.

The Indian team will play matches against South Africa in Guwahati on October 2 and Indore on October 4 after the first T20 International on Wednesday.
