New Delhi. Veteran opener Shikhar Dhawan showed a great game in the opening ODI of the series against West Indies (IND vs WI 1st ODI) on Friday but missed out on a century. He scored 97 runs in 99 balls while opening in this match in Port of Spain. In the 34th over of the innings, Dhawan was caught by Gudakesh Moti in the hands of Shamar Brooks. Brooks took the catch of Dhawan while diving in the style of ‘Superman’.

West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran won the toss in this match and invited India to bat first. Taking over the captaincy of Team India Shikhar Dhawan Opened the innings with Shubman Gill and shared an opening partnership of 119 runs. Shubman Gill He was run out on a personal score of 64 off 53 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes. Dhawan was looking in great rhythm and it seemed that he would complete the century too. Shikhar Dhawan, who made his international debut through the same format in 2010, has so far scored 17 centuries and 36 half-centuries in ODIs at an average of over 45. He was earlier part of the ODI series against England. He scored an unbeaten 31 runs in the first ODI but after that both could score only 10 (9 and 1) runs in the ODIs.
