Indian team’s vice-captain and leading all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is not playing in the first ODI against West Indies. BCCI informed that Jadeja has a right knee injury. For this reason, he will not be able to play in the second match of the series as well. The medical team is taking care of him. His playing in the third ODI will be decided before the match. Axar Patel has been included in the playing XI in his place. Shreyas Iyer has been made the vice-captain.
Chance to Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill has got a chance in the playing XI of the Indian team. Shubman Gill, who was the Player of the Tournament of the 2019 Under-19 World Cup, will play ODIs after about one and a half years. He played his last match against Australia in December 2020. In the 3 ODI matches played so far, only 49 runs have come out of Gill’s bat.
Meanwhile, former West Indies captain and star all-rounder Jason Holder has become Corona positive. Because of which he is not playing in this match.
