Bristol. After a disappointing performance in the first match against England, the Indian women’s cricket team will look to bat better in the second T20 match to be held here on Tuesday. In the first match at Chester Lee Street, the Indian batsmen knelt in front of the England bowlers. Opener Smriti Mandhana said in the pre-match press conference, “After the first match, we discussed some things. Of course, we didn’t play the kind of cricket we were playing for the last few months.
“There is a need to match the level of what we have achieved in the past. It was a bit disappointing but it was a bad day.” Smriti reiterated skipper Harmanpreet Kaur’s point of not having playable conditions after the first match at Chester Lee Street but admitted that the team really needs to improve its batting, especially in the middle overs.

He said, “Yes the conditions were not that good in the first match and there were patches on the outfield too, but we will not use that as an excuse.” The opener said, “We need to improve our batting between the 12th and 18th overs. We haven’t done this in the first match.”
Smriti conceded that Indian batsmen had a disappointing performance due to their lax attitude and that they should aim to keep the score in the range of 160 to 170 runs if they want to beat a quality side. Smriti said, “Looking at the level of T20 cricket nowadays, we have to score 160 to 170 runs to be safe. But it also depends on the nature of the wicket.

He said, “After the Commonwealth Games, I think it is Harman (Harmanpreet Kaur), Jemima (Rodriguez) or my responsibility to play for 20 overs. But this is T20 cricket, we have also included Hemlata and Kiran in the team. But you have to give him time to perform at this level.”
Playing of Radha Yadav in the second match is doubtful. He suffered a shoulder injury while trying to stop the ball in the second over while chasing England’s target. The 23-year-old left the field due to pain and his departure also meant that India had one less bowler. Smriti said, “The medical team is still investigating the condition of Radha Yadav. We will know about their availability before the match.”
The teams are as follows:
