IPL: Royal Challengers Bangalore sign Australia pacer Jason Behrendorff’s deal with Mumbai Indians


Mumbai Indians have appointed Mark Boucher as head coach
Boucher stepped down as head coach of senior men’s team after T20 World Cup

New Delhi. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has handed over Australian pacer Jason Behrendorff to Mumbai Indians for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). RCB bought Behrendorff in the 2022 IPL auction at a base price of Rs 75 lakh. Behrendorff has previously represented Chennai Super Kings in 2021, Mumbai Indians in 2018 and RCB in 2022.

He will play for Mumbai Indians in the 2023 IPL. Earlier, he played for Mumbai in 2018 and then he took the same number of wickets in five matches.

Earlier in the year, Mumbai Indians also confirmed the appointment of former South African wicketkeeper-batsman Mark Boucher as the head coach. Cricket South Africa (CSA) has confirmed that Boucher will step down as the head coach of the senior men’s team after the ongoing T20 World Cup.

In a press release issued by MI, Boucher said, “It is an honor and a privilege to be appointed as the head coach of MI. Their history and achievements as a franchise have clearly established them as one of the most successful sports franchises in world sports. I look forward to the challenge and respect. results needed. It is a strong unit with great leadership and players. I look forward to adding value to this dynamic entity.”

Boucher had a long and illustrious career as a wicket-keeper batsman and holds the record for most Test dismissals by a wicket-keeper. The five-time IPL champions had a poor outing earlier this year, where they finished at the bottom of the points table.
