Jasprit Bumrah’s injury being kept a secret from selectors, only Laxman allowed to speak to pacer: Report
New Delhi. Jasprit Bumrah’s back injury and his rehabilitation process are being kept a secret even from the national selectors. According to a report, only National Cricket Academy (NCA) director VVS Laxman is tracking all the information related to Jasprit Bumrah’s injury. It has already been reported that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will not bring Jasprit Bumrah back to professional cricket until closer to the ICC World Cup to be held in October-November this year. The main focus of the board is to ensure that the pacer’s career lasts longer.
According to the latest report of Indian Express, many people in BCCI are not aware of his injury. Only VVS Laxman has been appointed to talk to him and the physio. Even the selection committee has been told that they too will be informed about Bumrah’s injury and his rehab details in due course. According to a BCCI source, anyone is averse to taking risks and Bumrah’s recovery is one of their top agenda.

The BCCI source further said, “His back is still in a critical condition. Also, last time Bumrah was brought back in a hurry. Since he had not fully recovered, he was in discomfort while bowling on his return. This time we will not take the risk, because the result of a wrong decision can prove to be dangerous for the career.

Let us tell you that Jasprit Bumrah was tried to bring back in haste twice just before the ICC T20 World Cup last year and again before the ODI against Sri Lanka in January this year. However, things didn’t work out and September 2022 was the last time Jasprit Bumrah played a match for Team India. Bumrah recently had surgery in New Zealand.
Jasprit Bumrah’s unorthodox action is often seen as putting too much pressure on his body. Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has said many times that if Bumrah wants to play every match then it will not be sustainable. Former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee suggested that Bumrah should extend his run-up to generate the required pace and power and take the pressure off his back.
