Mark Boucher to Step Down: South Africa’s head coach Mark Boucher will step down from his post after the T20 World Cup 2022 to be held in October. Cricket South Africa CEO Foletsi Mosecki gave this information in a media statement. He told that Boucher has taken this decision keeping in view some personal motives and new opportunities for his future.

Former South African wicketkeeper Mark Boucher played 147 Tests in his career. He is the head coach of the Proteas team since December 2019. His tenure is to end after the 50-over World Cup to be held in India in October next year. But a year before this, he has made up his mind to leave the team.

‘Builds a strong base for the new generation of Proteas team’
This information related to Mark Boucher came out just after the loss of the Test series to England. Cricket South Africa CEO said, ‘We thank Mark for the time and efforts he has given to the South African cricket team. He helped the team at a time when many senior players had retired. He created a strong foundation for the new generation of Proteas. We are thankful for everything he has done for this team. We wish him all the best for the next chapter of his life.

India had defeated Test and ODI series
Under the command of Mark Boucher, the South African team defeated Team India in the three-match home Test series in January this year. After this, the Indian team had a clean sweep in the ODI series as well. Recently, on the tour of England too, South Africa started the series strong by winning the first Test, but after that it lost back to back matches and lost the series as well.
