New Delhi. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG vs DC) registered a resounding victory by defeating Delhi Capitals by 50 runs in the third match of IPL 2023 on the strength of Kyle Meyers and pacer Mark Wood. While Meyers from Lucknow took the team to a big score by playing a half-century innings, Mark Wood, with his sharp bowling, destroyed the batters of Delhi Capitals one after the other. As a result, Delhi had suffered 3 major setbacks within 50 runs. This is Lucknow’s third consecutive victory over Delhi. Earlier, both the teams had met 2 times in the last season of IPL and KL Rahul’s Supergiants were victorious both the times. Wood took 5 wickets from Super Giants.

Chasing the target of 194 runs set by the Lucknow Super Giants, the Delhi Capitals team could only manage 139 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Captain David Warner played an inning of 56 runs for Delhi Capitals. Delhi got the first blow on the third ball of the fifth over when Mark Wood sent opener Prithvi Shaw to the pavilion on a personal score of 12 runs. After this, Delhi got a second blow on the same score. Wood did not even allow Mitchell Marsh to open the account. Wood completed his third victim in the form of Sarfaraz Khan. Sarfaraz scored 4 runs and kept walking by handing over a catch to Krishnappa Gautam. Delhi had to bear the brunt of losing wickets at regular intervals. David Warner got out after scoring 56 runs.

Apart from Meyers, Nicholas Pooran contributed 36 runs while in the end Ayush Badoni added 18 runs in seven balls.
