Men’s Junior Asia Cup Hockey: Team India alert! Pakistan is in front… Mahamuqabala on 27th, eyes on World Cup

New Delhi. The Indian team, led by Uttam Singh, will open its campaign against Chinese Taipei on Wednesday (May 24) in the Men’s Junior Asia Cup Hockey tournament. In this tournament of 10 teams, India and Pakistan (India vs Pakistan) have been kept in the same group. The top 3 teams in this prestigious tournament to be held in Salalah, Oman will qualify for the Junior World Cup to be held in December. The World Cup will be held in Malaysia.

Team India is going to defend its title in this tournament. He will be eyeing to qualify for the World Cup. India and Pakistan are the two most successful teams in the Junior Asia Cup. Both have won this tournament thrice each. India has been clubbed with Pakistan, Japan, Thailand and Chinese Taipei in Group A while hosts Oman, Korea, Malaysia, Bangladesh and Uzbekistan have been placed in Pool B. India and Pakistan teams will clash on 27th May.

‘Opportunity to prepare well against senior team’
Indian captain Uttam Singh said that playing against the senior Indian team in Bengaluru gave him an opportunity to prepare well for the tournament. In a statement issued by Hockey India, Uttam Singh said, “Junior Asia Cup is a great opportunity for us to prove our potential and implement whatever work we have done during the training sessions. With the good international experience we have gained over the past few years and having played against the senior team to hone our skills in a recent practice session at the SAI Center in Bengaluru, we can say that we are well placed to defend the title. Are ready.

Top 2 teams will qualify for semi-finals
As per the format of the tournament, the top two teams from each pool will qualify for the semi-finals. Both the finalists and the bronze medalist will qualify for the Junior World Cup to be held in Malaysia. However, if Malaysia also makes it to the semi-finals of the Junior Asia Cup, the remaining three teams will qualify for the Junior World Cup. Malaysia being the host has already made it to the Junior World Cup. India will play another pool match against Japan on 25 May. The team will play its last pool match against Thailand on 28 May. The final will be played on June 1.
