Sarandeep Singh said on news agency PTI, “One of the biggest mistakes of the team was not getting Yuzvendra Chahal to bloom in the entire tournament, especially against England. You saw how effective the England wrist spinners were. Rishabh Pant not playing in the league stage (he played only one game) also surprised me.”

Former Australia all-rounder Shane Watson was also surprised at Chahal’s exit, while Adil Rashid and Liam Livingstone proved to be very effective in not allowing the Indian batsmen to score runs. Watson said on Star Sports, “India didn’t have a wrist spinner and the England spinner had two. He can control his pace, like Rashid did. He has incredible skills and he would have been fantastic against England.”
