Melbourne. Under the captaincy of Jos Buttler, England won the title by defeating Pakistan by 5 wickets in the final match of T20 World Cup 2022 played at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). England won the toss and decided to bowl first, Pakistan scored 137 runs and in reply England managed to win the World Cup for the second time by winning the 19th over itself. England is the first team in the world to break the dream of winning the World Cup first India and then Pakistan, which has both the ODI World Cup and T20 World Cup titles at the same time.

Butler said, “The whole team is proud to win the T20 World Cup. It was a great tournament. We went to Pakistan before coming here (Australia), which was an invaluable time for the team.”
Butler praised the team’s coach Matthew Mott, saying, “He fit into the team well and we have some Australians in our coaching staff as well.” Mott led the coaching staff really well. He gave freedom to the players and also allowed them to trust themselves.
