New Delhi. Even before the start of IPL 2023, Punjab Kings have suffered a big setback. Veteran player Johnny Bairstow will not be able to play this season. Johnny suffered a left leg injury in September last year. His bone was broken. Bairstow suffered this injury before the third and final Test against South Africa, when he was playing golf with friends. According to ESPNcricinfo, Australia’s uncapped Matthew Short will replace Johnny Bairstow. Punjab Kings also informed about this by releasing a video message.

Johnny Bairstow started training in February this year after recovering from injury. He was training with the Yorkshire team and was expected to play in Division 2 of the County Championship.
