Rohit Sharma remembered the first T20 WC, said – I had no understanding…

New Delhi. Indian captain Rohit Sharma is the captain of the Indian cricket team in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Before the start of the T20 World Cup, there was a press conference of all the captains organized by the ICC. During this, Rohit Sharma recalled his presence in the T20 World Cup for the first time in 2007. Rohit Sharma was a part of that tournament. He recalled being part of a victorious Indian and the transformation of T20 over the years.

Before the T20 World Cup 2022, the Indian captain shared his first T20 World Cup experience. He revealed that he knew very little about the format. He had no idea what it was like to be a part of a World Cup squad until India won the trophy. Rohit Sharma said in a press conference held in Melbourne, “When I was selected for that World Cup, I did not go with any expectations about myself.”

He added, “I just wanted to enjoy the tournament. Wanted to play the tournament because it was my first World Cup. I had no understanding of what it was like to be a part of the World Cup and how big it was going to be until we actually won the World Cup.” This year Rohit will play his 8th T20 World Cup and will be one of four players, including teammate Dinesh Karthik, who were a part of both the inaugural T20 World Cup and this year.

T20 cricket has changed a lot in the last few years. Style, attitude everything has changed. The format was completely new to the team in the first edition, but now over the course of 15 years, all the teams and players have experienced a lot of T20 cricket and gained a lot of experience with the presence of various international leagues. Rohit Sharma said, “It has been a long journey and the game has evolved a lot.”

Rohit Sharma said, “You can really see how it is played now compared to 2007. 140 or 150 was a good score then and now people try to get that score in 14 or 15 overs.

Let us tell you that when Rohit Sharma was just 20 years old, he made his debut in the T20 World Cup for the first time. He was named to play against England but did not get a chance to bat. He was a middle order batsman then. After this he got a chance to play against hosts South Africa in the second match. In this match, Rohit scored an unbeaten half-century in 40 balls. After this, he played an unbeaten 30 runs in 16 balls against Pakistan in the final match. Rohit has played 142 T20 Internationals for India so far and has scored 3737 runs, which includes 32 fifty-plus scores.
