Dinesh Karthik Injury Update T20 World Cup 2022: India had to face defeat by 5 wickets in the match played against South Africa in Perth. Team India has suffered another setback along with this defeat. The team’s experienced wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik has been injured. Karthik may be ruled out due to injury. His playing in the match against Bangladesh in Adelaide is doubtful. Karthik has a back injury.
Karthik has not been able to do well with the batting in the tournament so far and he scored only six runs in 15 balls against South Africa too. Karthik was seen moaning in pain after 15 overs of the South African innings. He grabbed his back and got down on his knees. Seeing this, the physio of Team India immediately reached him on the field. He returned to the pavilion with Karthik shortly after this.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar later confirmed that Karthik suffered a back injury. He said, “There is a matter related to the bench with him. Something can be said clearly about this only after getting the physio’s report.
India has to play the next match against Bangladesh in Adelaide on November 2 and in such a situation, Karthik has very little time to get fit. In the last five overs in the match against South Africa, Rishabh Pant kept the wicket in place of Karthik.
Significantly, Rishabh Pant is a good option for wicketkeeping for India. Team India has played three matches so far in the T20 World Cup 2022 and Pant did not get a chance to play in any of these matches. Now the Indian team will play a match against Bangladesh on November 2 in Adelaide. If Karthik’s injury becomes serious or does not heal, then he will be out. In this situation, Rishabh Pant can become a part of the playing XI.
