New Delhi. Sunil Gavaskar is still a role model for many budding cricketers. Many veteran players of the current era also take inspiration from him. But who is Gavaskar’s favorite player or his hero? This has been disclosed by this former Indian captain himself. Gavaskar’s hero is not a cricketer, but Lakshya Sen, the new star of badminton in the country. Gavaskar revealed this by sharing a picture of himself with Lakshya on Instagram. When Gavaskar went to Bangalore for a meeting, he reached the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy, where he met his new hero.
Lakshya Sen too could not believe his eyes when Sunil Gavaskar arrived at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy (PPBA) in Bengaluru to meet him and the young players.
PPBA co-founder, director and head coach Vimal Kumar told PTI, “He (Gavaskar) had a meeting in Bengaluru and decided to meet the young budding kids of the academy. Badminton and cricket are his two favorite sports. He stayed here with us for about an hour.

Gavaskar later posted his photo with Lakshya Sen on Instagram with the caption, “Lakshya Sen, my new badminton hero after Prakash Padukone.”
The great cricketer Gavaskar has praised Padukone many times during cricket commentary and he considers him one of the great players of India. Sen was among India’s best performing players in 2022. He said that he was also surprised to see him.

Sen told PTI, it feels great to hear such things from such a big player. To be honest, I was also quite surprised. This 21-year-old player won the gold medal in the 2022 Commonwealth Games. He was part of the Indian team that won the Thomas Cup. Apart from this, he won the silver medal in the All England Badminton Championship and the bronze medal in the 2021 World Badminton Championship.
