Surya’s shine continues, even though India lost the T20 World Cup, Yadav is the number one batsman

Dubai: India’s middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav retained the top spot in the ICC T20 Batsmen’s Rankings after his impressive performance in the T20 World Cup in Australia. Suryakumar became the number one batsman in the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup, scoring three half-centuries in five innings. This gave him a career best 869 rating points. A 14-run dismissal in the semi-final against England saw it drop to ten points, but they retained top spot.

Surya scored 239 runs in the World Cup at a strike rate of 189.68 and finished third in the list of highest run-scorers. England’s Alex Hales made an unbeaten 86 off 47 balls in the semi-final against India to move up 22 places to 12th position. In the top 10, Pakistan captain Babar Azam climbed a place to reach the third position.

South Africa’s Riley Rossouw moved up to seventh while New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips dropped a place to eighth. Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan remained at the second spot and South Africa’s Aiden Markram at the fifth spot while Devon Conway slipped to the fourth spot. Among bowlers, England’s Adil Rashid climbed five places to reach the third position. He did well against India in the semi-finals and against Pakistan in the final.

Player of the tournament and player of the match in the final, Sam Karan climbed two places to fifth. Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga remains at the top while Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan is at the second spot. Among all-rounders, Bangladesh’s Shakib-al-Hasan topped, Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi second and India’s Hardik Pandya third.
