T20 WC 2022: Sachin Tendulkar breaks silence on India’s defeat in World Cup semi-final, shows critics a mirror

New Delhi: Former India batsman Sachin Tendulkar has said that he is deeply disappointed with India’s humiliating T20 World Cup semi-final loss to England but urged critics not to judge the team on the basis of one loss. England beat India by ten wickets in the semi-finals. In a video sent to media organisations, Tendulkar said, “I know the semi-final loss against England was disappointing. I believe the same. We are well wishers of Indian cricket.

He further said, ‘But don’t judge your team on the basis of this performance. We have also been the number one T20 team in the world. Number one is not reached overnight. For this, good cricket has to be played for a long time which this team has played.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has described the Indian team as the worst limited-overs team in history for not performing up to expectations as they have not won an ICC title since the 2013 Champions Trophy.

Tendulkar said, ‘168 at Adelaide was not a good score. The boundary is very small on that ground, so runs should have been scored around 190. Our bowlers also could not take wickets. Backing the team, the former skipper said winning and losing are part of the game.

He said, ‘I am not saying that this kind of performance is okay. Players don’t set out to fail. They always play to win but it doesn’t happen everyday. There are ups and downs in the game. We can’t always win.

Team India was the table topper in Super-12

In the Super-12 of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, India started with a bang by defeating Pakistan in their first match. In this round, Team India won four matches out of five matches. In this way she stood first in the points table with 8 points. In this round, the team had to face defeat only to South Africa.
