Meanwhile, India are still waiting for clarity on the fitness of Deepak Hooda and Jasprit Bumrah. Both Bumrah and Hooda have been ruled out of the ongoing T20I series against South Africa and are currently recovering from injury at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. After missing out on the Asia Cup, 28-year-old Bumrah returned only for the T20I against Australia at the end of last month. But, now he is getting treatment under the supervision of the medical team at NCA.
The report further stated that the pacer has not been ruled out of the T20 World Cup completely, but his participation is in serious doubt. If both Hooda and Bumrah are reported to be injured, it is likely that Chahar and Mohammed Shami may find a place in the main team. India are in Group 2 in T20 World Cup 2022 along with Pakistan, Bangladesh, South Africa and two qualifiers. He will start his campaign against Pakistan at the MCG on 23 October.
