Josh Inglis has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022 due to injury.
Australia have selected Cameron Green as Inglis’ replacement.
The match between Australia and New Zealand is on 22 October at the SCG.
New Delhi. Australian captain Aaron Finch has said that if Australia’s regular wicketkeeper Matthew Wade is injured in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, then David Warner is most likely to take the wicket in this situation. Australia will start their campaign against New Zealand at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) with the T20 World Cup 2022 Super 12 match on Saturday (October 22).
Earlier, the team’s reserve wicketkeeper Josh Inglis was ruled out of the tournament due to injury while playing golf. Instead of choosing a wicketkeeper in his place, the Australian team has chosen all-rounder Cameron Green. This means that if Matthew Wade gets injured, Australia do not have a specialist backup wicketkeeper. However, 35-year-old Aaron Finch is quite happy with David Warner’s wicketkeeping practice in the training session.

In the pre-match press conference before the match against New Zealand, Aaron Finch said, “Maybe, David Warner I think, he did a little practice yesterday. Me, maybe captaining and keeping, when you haven’t done it before, it’s a little tough. Maybe Mitchell Starc bowls something in the beginning, then does wicketkeeping in the middle and then bowls again at the end. But maybe David Warner is the person with whom we are willing to take this risk.”
Aaron Finch has also confirmed that Cameron Green will not play in the first match against New Zealand. Finch also said that Australia have picked Cameron Green as Inglis’ replacement to give the team more balance. He said, “No, I don’t think so. He has arrived from Perth this morning only. He has come as a cover. We have taken the risk of not going with an extra wicketkeeper, which is obviously a big risk. But we think Cameron will give the team a better balance.”

Talking on Mitchell Marsh, Finch said, “He bowled well yesterday and he is doing well. We are hoping that he is fit and able to play.”
