New Delhi. The latest case of Kovid-19 has come to the fore in the Australian cricket team. Matthew Wade has become the second player in the team to be infected with the corona virus during the World Cup campaign. Wade is the only wicketkeeper-batsman in the 15-man Australia squad as reserve wicketkeeper Josh Inglis has already been ruled out of the tournament with an injury. Wade is believed to have only minor symptoms and if his condition does not worsen, he is expected to feature in the match against England at the MCG on Friday (28 October).
The spokesperson of the Australian team has confirmed the 34-year-old player’s corona positive. According to cricket.com.au, Wade is experiencing only minor symptoms for Kovid-19. As per ICC rules, a player, who is Covid-19 positive, can still play the match. Matthew Wade is the second Australian player, after leg-spinner Adam Zampa, to become Covid-19 positive in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 tournament. Jampa had missed Australia’s game against Sri Lanka on Tuesday due to Kovid.

Adam Zampa is expected to play against England on Friday after being Kovid-19 negative in the last two days. Zampa was also seen bowling in the nets at Junction Oval, where Australia trained for their blockbuster clash against England.
According to the report, Glenn Maxwell was doing wicketkeeping during training on Thursday. However, captain Aaron Finch has already said that if Matthew Wade is not available for some reason, David Warner can replace him. Australia has taken the risk of going without a reserve wicketkeeper after Josh Inglis’s exit. In place of Inglis, Australia included Cameron Green in the team.

Even if Matthew Wade plays on Friday, he is not allowed to travel from the team hotel to the ground with the rest of the team on the team bus. Wade cannot even use the dressing room in Sydney before or during the match. Australia will hope that the virus does not spread further to the camp after two players have tested positive for Kovid-19 in less than a week.
The Australian team is as follows:
Ashton Agar, Pat Cummins, Tim David, Aaron Finch (c), Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Kane Richardson, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade, David Warner, Adam Zampa.
