Arshdeep took 3 wickets in his very first over.
He revealed the plans for the next two matches

New Delhi. In the first T20 against South Africa in Thiruvananthapuram, in the absence of experienced bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh grabbed the new ball and he fulfilled this responsibility completely. Arshdeep showed the way to the pavilion to three South African batsmen in his very first over with the new ball. The South African team could not recover from these three blows and were all out for 106 runs. India achieved the target of victory in 16.4 overs for the loss of 2 wickets.

Arshdeep spoke openly on this aspect of his bowling in a conversation on BCCI TV with Team India’s bowling coach Paras Mhambrey after the first T20. Coach Mhambrey asked him the first question that you got a break before this series. How was it used and how did it prepare? On this, Arshdeep said, ‘I worked on my fitness and strength during this time. This makes me feel a lot better. The credit for this goes to you. Because it was your plan.

I don’t watch too many wickets: Arshdeep

After this the bowling coach asked Arshdeep that you had seen the wicket of Thiruvananthapuram before the match. How did you like the wicket and what did you think about it? In response to this question, Arshdeep said, ‘I do not see too many wickets. I go to the bowling coach and ask what can I do on this. When I asked you, you only said that the new ball can swing. It was good for us that we won the toss and Deepak bhai started well. This gave me confidence and I felt that if I keep the length of the ball forward, it can swing.

There will be an emphasis on meeting the demand of the team

The ball was swinging a lot from the very first over on the wicket of Thiruvananthapuram. Arshdeep also took all three wickets on swinging balls. When bowling coach Mhambrey asked the pacer a question about this, he said, ‘I did not expect that the ball would swing so much. I didn’t get that much swing in recent matches as well. Today the demand of the team was that 3 overs have to be bowled with the new ball. I had to live up to that.
