New Delhi. Indian Cricket Board secretary Jay Shah said on Friday that a decision will be taken later on whether to play injured captain Rohit Sharma in the two-Test series against Bangladesh. Rohit suffered a thumb injury while fielding in the slips in the second ODI against Bangladesh at Mirpur on December 7. Despite the injury, Rohit batted to save India from defeat. He played a blistering inning of 51 runs but the Bangladesh team was successful in winning the match by 5 runs.
Shah said in a release, “He has been examined by the BCCI medical team and he was scanned at the local hospital in Dhaka. He has left for Mumbai to see the specialist and will not play the last ODI. The decision regarding his playing in the Test series will be taken later.
BCCI has asked injured fast bowlers Deepak Chahar and Kuldeep Sen to go to the National Cricket Academy. Both are hurt. Shah said, “Fast bowler Kuldeep Sen had complained of stiffness in the waist after the first ODI. The BCCI medical team has advised him rest. He will not be able to play further in the series. Fast bowler Deepak Chahar suffered a hamstring injury during the second ODI and has also been ruled out of the series. Both will now go to NCA.
