VIDEO: Joe Root made fun of Pakistan, shots hit with left hand, heavy insult

Rawalpindi: A strange incident happened on the fourth day of the ongoing first Test between hosts Pakistan and England. Right handed batsman Joe Root started batting with left hand. Making fun of the Pakistani bowlers, he attacked with the left hand. Joe Root scored 73 runs. Root was lucky after completing his half-century when Naseem failed to take his catch at reverse sweep. England declared their second innings before tea on the fourth day on Sunday, setting Pakistan a target of 343 runs.

England, who took a lead of 78 runs in the first innings, declared the second innings after scoring 264 runs for seven wickets. Pakistan, hosting England in their home country after 17 years, have got 130 overs to chase down the target. Earlier, off-spinner Will Jaques, who made his Test debut after Ben Foakes was ruled out due to a viral infection, took six wickets for 161 runs.

Pakistan’s team, however, managed to post a score of 579 runs in the first innings on a batting friendly pitch. England, who scored more than six runs per over in the first innings, maintained this rhythm in the second innings as well. Joe Root scored 73 from his side while Harry Brook, who scored a century in the first innings, scored 87 runs in 65 balls.

Opener Jack Crowley also played an innings of 50 runs. Pacer Naseem Shah (2 for 66) bowled just before Brook Tea, after which England captain Ben Stokes declared the innings. England scored 218 runs in the second session at a run rate of 7.4 runs per over.
