port of Spain: India registered a thrilling win over West Indies (IND vs WI) in the first match of the ODI series. Team India won this match till the last ball by 3 runs. West Indies needed 5 runs to win. Mohamed Siraj’s accurate yorker gave the team victory. After this victory, former West Indies captain and great batsman Brian Lara arrived in the training room of the Indian team.

Shikhar Dhawan hugs
Indian team captain Shikhar Dhawan welcomed Brian Lara with a hug. BCCI has shared its video on social media. Apart from Dhawan, new vice-captain Shreyas Iyer and leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal are also seen talking to Lara. The match was played in Port of Spain and it is also Lara’s home ground. It was here that he played innings of 400* and 375 runs in Tests.

Also met Rahul Dravid
Brian Lara also met the coach of the Indian team, Rahul Dravid. Dravid and Lara used to play international cricket at the same time. Both have more than 10 thousand runs to their name in both ODI and Test formats. BCCI shared the photo of their meeting.

West Indies gave tough competition
The Indian team got a tough competition in the first ODI of West Indies. India would not have expected such a tough competition from the recent series loss to Bangladesh. Indian batsmen made an explosive start. The top-3 batsmen made a fifty, but in the last 10 overs, West Indies made a wonderful comeback and restricted India to 308 runs.

Kyle Meyers and Brandon King played half-centuries for him with the bat. In the end, Romario Shepherd made the match interesting by scoring 39 not out off 25 balls. But Mohammad Siraj defended 15 runs in the over to give Team India a 1-0 lead in the series.
