Vijay Hazare Trophy: Punjab’s Ramandeep scored a hat-trick, Baroda’s team piled on 81 runs

Mumbai. With the help of a hat-trick by Punjab’s medium pacer Ramandeep Singh, Punjab defeated Baroda by 9 wickets on Tuesday in the Group B match of Vijay Hazare Trophy ODI cricket tournament. Baroda won the toss and decided to bat first but their team was bundled out for 81 runs in just 20.4 overs. Ramandeep took five for 17 in four overs while left-arm spinner Abhishek Sharma took three for 17.

In reply, Punjab registered their second win by achieving the target in just 12 overs. For him, opener Prabhsimran Singh scored an unbeaten 62 off 48 balls. In other group matches, Madhya Pradesh beat Odisha by six wickets while Jammu and Kashmir beat Nagaland by 99 runs.

Tanmay Agarwal’s century, beat Saurashtra in Hyderabad
Captain Tanmay Agarwal’s 119-ball 124 helped Hyderabad beat Saurashtra by five wickets in the Vijay Hazare Trophy Group A match here on Tuesday. Saurashtra, after being invited to bat first, scored a challenging score of 312 for nine with the help of wicket-keeper batsman Harvik Desai’s 102 runs.

Hyderabad made a great start in response and Agarwal and Rohit Rayudu (83) shared a 214-run partnership for the first wicket. After this, Ravi Teja made a useful contribution of 34 and Tilak Verma made 45 runs.

UP beat Gujarat in Group A itself
In another group match, Uttar Pradesh beat Gujarat by six wickets. Ankit Rajput took four wickets for 30 runs as Uttar Pradesh allowed Gujarat to make only 195 runs for nine wickets. In Uttar Pradesh, the target was achieved in 47 overs for the loss of four wickets. For him, Rinku Singh scored an unbeaten 68, Akshdeep Nath scored an unbeaten 47 and Priyam Garg scored 47 runs.

In another match in Himachal Pradesh, Shubham Arora (133) and Amit Kumar (120) struck centuries to post a massive 199-run win by restricting Manipur to 163 for eight after scoring 362 for four. In another match, Chandigarh beat Tripura by four runs in a closely fought match despite Wriddhiman Saha’s 101.
