Orrendale (Sussex): India’s star batsman Virat Kohli joined the national cricket team’s practice session along with left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat at the Orandale Castle Cricket Club on Monday. Looks like Unadkat has recovered from the left shoulder injury. India and Australia will play the World Test Championship (WTC) final at The Oval from June 7 to 11. The Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday, on its official Twitter handle, shared a picture of the members of the Indian team, which included fast bowlers Mohammad Siraj and Umesh Yadav, apart from Kohli. Kassel Cricket Club begins its preparations for WTC 2023. Kohli, Umesh and Siraj could be seen jogging in new training kits while off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin bowled in the nets. Unadkat also spoke with head coach Rahul Dravid and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey. Cheteshwar Pujara, playing for Sussex in the English county in preparation for the final, also arrived for training.

Umesh and Shardul Thakur were among the initial group of Indian players to reach here for the WTC final. Captain Rohit Sharma and Mumbai’s young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal have also reached here. The final group comprising Ravindra Jadeja, Shubman Gill, Mohammed Shami, KS Bharat and Ajinkya Rahane will leave for England on Tuesday after the IPL final in Ahmedabad.

Ruturaj Gaikwad has informed the BCCI that he is getting married on June 3 and 4 after which Jaiswal has been included in the squad as a standby player. India had lost by eight wickets to the Kane Williamson-led New Zealand team in Southampton in the first final of the World Test Championship in 2021. India will not play any warm-up matches before the WTC final.
