‘Virat Kohli’s power game is back’: Know what Sanjay Manjrekar said about Bhuvneshwar

New Delhi. Former India Test cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar believes that Virat Kohli’s ‘powergame’ is slowly returning and he is getting into the familiar rhythm ahead of the T20 World Cup. Kohli took a one-month break after battling poor form for nearly three years. He returned to form in the Asia Cup and scored the most runs for India. After this, he also did well in the T20 series against Australia.

Manjrekar said on Sports18’s ‘Sports Over the Top’ show, “He has scored runs from every match of the Asia Cup and not only scored runs, but his performance has also improved. I think powergame is back. His confidence in his power game is returning. He said, ‘There was a time when his runs were being scored, but the powergame was not returning. Now he is returning. He said that he is hitting good fours and sixes which is a good sign.

Bangladesh’s Hindu cricketer congratulated Durga Puja, then received threats from fundamentalists, asked to change religion

Manjrekar said, ‘He is hitting fours and sixes off good deliveries and it comes with confidence. This is a player who has great confidence and that has made him excel, but he was not getting runs for a long time which shook his confidence. Fast bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Harshal Patel proved to be very expensive against Australia. Manjrekar believes that there was an additional burden on Bhuvneshwar.

He said, ‘Bhubaneswar Kumar is overburdened and he is playing a lot of cricket. He played all the matches and also in this series. He needs a break after which he plays fresh. He said, ‘Harshal Patel has his limits. India should try more options for the third fast bowling option. Mohammed Shami is also an option.
