Why West Indies team is unable to play ODI format, former legend Ian Bishop told the reason

Ian Bishop On West Indies: West Indies team will play the first match of the three-match home ODI series against India today. Earlier, former veteran Ian Bishop has told the weakness of the team in ODI cricket. Let us inform that West Indies have played a total of 15 ODIs so far this year. During this, he has to face defeat in 11 matches. West Indies are set to face India at the Queen’s Park Oval from July 22, just six days after their 3-0 ODI series loss to Bangladesh.

Earlier, in February this year, West Indies played three ODIs against India in Ahmedabad, in which they lost 3–0. After that West Indies also had to face defeat at the hands of Pakistan and Bangladesh. However, the Caribbean team won the ODI series against the Netherlands after ending a series of six consecutive defeats.

Former fast bowler-turned-commentator Ian Bishop talks about West Indies’ batting concerns in ODIs. In an interview given to news agency INS, he told why West Indies team is not able to play ODI format.

Ian Bishop said, I think West Indies got out batting first in nine of the last 12 innings. He did not bat for 50 overs. So, it remains a matter of concern where, you note, he batted on some tough pitches against Bangladesh. He struggled against spin, but mainly all forms of bowling have been a struggle for him.
