WI vs AUS: West Indies announces Test team, Shivnarine Chanderpaul’s son gets a place in the team

New Delhi: West Indies team was eliminated in the first round of T20 World Cup 2022. After being out of the prestigious tournament, the West Indies team is now focusing on the Test series to be played against Australia from 30 November. West Indies’ 15-man squad has also been announced for the upcoming series. These two matches between the two teams will be played in Perth and Adelaide. Tejnarine Chanderpaul, the youngest son of former West Indies veteran batsman Shivnarine Chandrapaul, has been selected by the selection committee for this series.

Desmond Haynes, the selector of the West Indies team, while explaining the decisions behind the selection, said, ‘We have a core group of players. Who has previously been a part of the Test team. We played series against Bangladesh and England this year and have won both. We are playing good Test cricket and we are expecting the team to do well in Australia. We have Tejnarine Chanderpaul as a new player. In the Test against Bangladesh ‘A’ in St Lucia this summer, Chanderpaul did very well at the top of the order.

Desmond further said, ‘Roston Chase has returned to the team as an all-rounder and we are confident that his experience and skills will be of great use to the team. Shamarh Brooks has also returned to the team to strengthen the middle order.
