Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra moves closer to the medal

New Delhi. Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has done wonders in the World Athletics Championship 2022. He qualified for the finals in the very first attempt by throwing a javelin 88.39 meters away. Neeraj has reached the finals of the World Athletics Championships for the first time. A total of 34 players took part in Neeraj Chopra’s event at the World Athletics Championships being held in Oregon, USA. All players were divided into two qualifying groups. Neeraj came first for the qualification and covered the final ticket by covering a long distance from the mark of 88.39 meters.

Neeraj threw 89.94 meters in Diamond League
Earlier, Neeraj also threw 89.94 meters in the recently held Diamond League in Stockholm. 12 throwers who cross the 83.50m mark will qualify for the final. Along with Neeraj, Jakub Vadlejch of Czech Republic also qualified for the final by throwing a javelin up to 85.23 meters in the first attempt. Earlier, Neeraj Chopra won the javelin throw gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
This is Neeraj’s third breast throw of the year
88.39m is Neeraj’s third best throw of the year. In the Diamond League held in Stockholm last month, he threw the javelin 89.94 meters away. 24-year-old Neeraj has joined the medal contenders after this performance. If he manages to win a medal at the World Championships, he will be the second Indian after long jumper Anju Bobby George in 2003 to win a medal at the World Athletics Championships. Anju won the bronze medal in the World Championship held in Paris.
